MUMBAI, India, Jan. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104636 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 30, 2025, for 'system for precision crop monitoring and irrigation management.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Kulwinder Singh; Dr. Kailash Chandra Juglan; Dr. Rajesh Verma; and Dr. Chandra Mohan.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system for precision crop monitoring and irrigation management comprises of an Internet of Things (IoT) unit equipped with sensors configured to continuously monitor environmental and soil parameters, including air temperature, air humidity, and soil moisture, and a system configured to calculate vapor pressure deficit to assess crop water stress and optimize irrigation scheduling, the system is adapted to support multiple irrigation methods, including surface drip irrigation and subsurface drip irrigation 102, with adjustable water levels set at 100%, 80%, and 60% of crop water requirements, the system records daily data throughout all crop growth stages to monitor eco-physiological and morphological parameters, enabling continuous assessment of crop development."
