MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641007496 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 26, for 'system for integrated mechanical weeding, seeding, and mulching in agriculture.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a mechanically integrated agricultural system configured to perform weeding, seeding, and mulching operations using a single apparatus. The system comprises a main frame (2) supporting a power unit (1), ground-engaging wheels (5), and a mechanical transmission network including belts, pulleys, shafts, and gears. A rotary weeding unit (3) mounted at a forward portion of the frame (2) is driven by the power unit (1) and includes a rotary drum with adjustable cutting blades (1). A seeding mechanism (6) mounted on the frame (2) is mechanically synchronized with the ground-engaging wheel (5) and comprises a seed housing (3), a metering blade (1), and a shaft (2) to control seed dispensing. A mulching unit (4) mounted at a rear portion of the frame (2) comprises a film holding spindle (1), mulch roll (2), tension roller (3), and side pressing wheels (4). The system operates through mechanical synchronization without electronic control elements."
