MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122883 A) filed by Woxsen University, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'system for environmental social and governance (esg) accounting of surplus and waste reduction events.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system for environmental social and governance (ESG) accounting of surplus and waste reduction events, comprises of an event capture layer 101 integrated across merchant POS terminals, a plurality of IoT freshness sensors, and logistics nodes to record surplus and waste reduction events in real-time with digitally signed event data, an RDBMS based verification layer 102 configured to aggregate and validate event data through multi-source consensus ensuring authenticity and accuracy, an impact conversion engine 103 to convert verified events into standardized ESG metrics using AI and machine learning protocols, and LCA tables generating impact vectors, a tokenization layer 104 to generate DITs with cryptographic signatures anchored on a blockchain ledger, an access layer 105 to provide APIs, wallets, and dashboards for viewing and managing tokens, and an impact market layer 106 enabling corporates to purchase or retire tokens for ESG compliance and allowing investors to trade tokens as verifiable assets."
