MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611001477 A) filed by UPES, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Jan. 6, for 'system for determining proportion of fortified rice and fortified rice kernels (frk) in a sample.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Ravinder Kaushik; and Dr. Anurag Jain.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system for determining proportion of fortified rice and fortified rice kernels (FRK) in a sample, comprising an imaging protocol 103 configured to capture each grain individually in the sample, ensuring that every grain is clearly distinguishable, the captured image is processed by an AI-based detection model 104 to distinguish between individual grains of fortified rice and FRK, a quantification engine 105 is configured to determine the exact percentage of fortified rice and fortified rice kernels present in the sample, and to display results in terms of counts, percentages, and confidence levels representing the quality of the grains, the protocol 103, the detection model 104, and the engine 105 are embedded in a non-volatile memory 107, a user interface 101 enables image alignment and calibration, with captured images stored along with metadata corresponding to texture, color, and size of each grain in the sample, in the non-volatile memory 107."
