MUMBAI, India, Jan. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104262 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'system for classifying lung cancer histological images.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Navneet Khurana; Dr. Namita Kaur; Gaurav Pushkarna; and Gazal Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system for classifying lung cancer histological images comprises of a data acquisition module 101 configured to receive histological images representing lung tissue samples, a pre- processing unit 102 configured to normalize, resize, enhance, and remove noise from images to improve feature extraction, a sequential convolutional network 103 (SCNN) consisting of three convolutional layers, three max-pooling layers, a flatten layer, and one or more dense layers optimized to reduce computational load and inference time while maintaining classification accuracy, a classification unit 105 configured to categorize histological images into predefined lung cancer types including adenocarcinoma, benign, and squamous cell carcinoma using trained datasets from multiple clinical sources, and an output module 104 configured to present prediction results with associated accuracy, recall, and F1 score metrics."
