MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102356 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 24, 2025, for 'system for classifying cognitive states of a user based on electroencephalography (eeg) signals.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system for classifying cognitive states of a user based on electroencephalography (EEG) signals, comprising an EEG acquisition module 101 to collect EEG signals from the user engaged in a cognitive task, a pre- processing module 102 to remove noise and artifacts from the EEG signals, a hybrid deep learning module 103 comprising an integration of multiple neural network architectures, to receive the pre-processed EEG signals and classify them into one or more cognitive states selected from the group consisting of attention, interest, and mental effort and an output module 104 to provide a classification result indicating the predicted cognitive state of the user."
