MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202321066092 A) filed by Tear Smoke Unit, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, on Oct. 3, 2023, for 'system facilitating effective probing and prophylactic fire through a tear gas shell.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a system for facilitating probing and prophylactic fire. The system may include a delivery unit configured to carry a shell casing. The shell casing is configured to hold a frangible projectile to be impactedwith a target and a rigid frangible shell having a predefined volume is configured inside the frangible projectilesuch that the rigid frangible shell ruptures upon impact with the target. The frangible projectile further carries a substance such that on impact with the target, the frangible projectile and the rigid frangible shell rigid frangible shell rupture radially releasing the substance and trail of smoke is left behind along the trajectory of the frangible projectile."
