MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517097786 A) filed by Lord Corporation, Cleveland, U.S.A., on Oct. 10, for 'system architecture for functional safety in an active steer-by-wire system.'

Inventor(s) include Chaudhuri, Anirban; Matthew, Abraham; and Cranmer, Jeffrey.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a force feedback system for use in steer-by-wire vehicles. The force feedback system provides active tactile feedback to the vehicle operator and provides safety control over the steer-by-wire vehicle. Also disclosed is a method of providing safe return of the steering control system of a steer-by-wire vehicle to a center position."
