MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411074404 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on Oct. 1, 2024, for 'system and method to track and re-identify a moving person based on dominant colors.'
Inventor(s) include Kumar, Neeraj; Srivastava, Anand Swaroop; Goyal, Ankit; Sagar, Navneet; and Panda, Bismita.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method (900) for identifying a human subject (102) in a video stream is disclosed. The method (900) includes detecting (902) a presence of the human subject (102) in a current frame of the video stream and generating (904) a polygon mask associated with the detected human subject (102) based on one or more image pixels in the current frame. The method (900) further includes identifying (906) a predetermined number of dominant colours within the polygon mask. The method (900) further includes determining (908) a perceptual colour difference between each dominant colour in the polygon mask and a corresponding dominant colour among pre-stored dominant colours corresponding to one or more pre-identified human objects. The method (900) further includes re-identifying (910) the human subject (102) as one of the one or more pre-identified human subjects in response to the determination that the perceptual colour difference is less than an adaptive threshold."
