MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202341087875 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'system and method of protecting a light emitting diode (led) control unit of a vehicle.'
Inventor(s) include Prasanna Venkatesan Srinivasan.
The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is a system comprising an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) for protecting a Light Emitting Diode (LED) control unit of a vehicle from power fluctuations. The method comprises monitoring a voltage value, a current value, and a Pulse Width Modulation value through a plurality of LED channels. Further, the method comprises determining an average power value supplied to the plurality of LED channels based on the voltage value, the current value, and the PWM value. Thereafter, the method determines an instantaneous power value supplied to the plurality of LED channels based on the voltage value and the current value of the plurality of LED channels, when the average power value is less than a threshold power value. Finally, the method comprises performing control operations on the plurality of LED channels, when the instantaneous power value is more than the threshold power value, thereby protecting the LED control unit from fluctuations and damage."
