MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411030275 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on April 15, 2024, for 'system and method for testing health of relay circuits.'

Inventor(s) include Pradeep Nagaraj; Pavani Chintakrindi; and Vinoth Balu.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system (100) for testing health of a relay actuated circuit that includes an alternating current (AC) supply unit (110) connected to a windings (112) of a relay (102) of the relay actuated circuit for supplying AC current, and a monitoring unit (114) coupled to a transducer (104) located in the relay (104), and AC supply unit (110). During testing mode, the monitoring unit (114) enables AC supply unit (110) to supply AC current to the windings (112) such that vibrations generated in a core (108) of the relay (102) due to the magnetostrictive effect of the AC current on the core (108), are transferred to the transducer (104) to generate a waveform that travels through the relay operated circuit (116) and analyze one or more attributes of the waveform by monitoring unit (114) to assess health of the relay (102)."
