MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641063490 A) filed by Coimbatore Institue Of Technology; and Intuitive Data Solutions Private Limited, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on May 20, for 'system and method for tamper-proof sequential process compliance enforcement using blockchain technology.'

Inventor(s) include Dr S P Abirami; and Dr. S. Priya.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure proposes a blockchain-based workflow enforcement system and a method for tamper-proof, sequential process compliance enforcement. The system comprises: a permissioned blockchain configured to store immutable blockchain events comprising both successful process step executions and failed violation attempts; a smart contract-based workflow enforcement module configured to define enforceable workflows as state transitions and to actively govern each process step at the point of execution, such that no process step can be skipped, altered, or forged even by users with administrative rights; a cryptographic proof generation module configured to generate cryptographically verifiable proof of complete and correct process execution upon the successful completion of each enforced process step; and a privacy-preserving authorization module configured to verify the authorization of process participants using zero-knowledge proofs, enabling credential verification without identity disclosure. The novelty of the invention lies in enforcement-before-execution, wherein the blockchain actively governs process steps rather than merely logging events after they occur, thereby making process violations cryptographically impossible and shifting compliance from post-facto detection to enforced execution. The system eliminates trust dependency on off-chain systems and is applicable to regulatory compliance, audits, clinical research, manufacturing, finance, and governance workflows."
