MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541134113 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education And Research, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'system and method for robotic surgery control and movement optimization.'
Inventor(s) include Suresh Babu K; Ganesan M; Preethi M; and Sugashree Suresh Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "System and Method for Robotic Surgery Control and Movement Optimization This present invention describes a system and method for safe and precise control of robotic surgery. It includes a cpu that is linked to the surgeon's input devices (motion sensors), the tissue sensing device(s) and the actuating device(s). The cpu can validate the neuromotor intention of a surgeon and predict the biomechanical behaviour of the tissue being operated on. It will also check that the actuator level physical capability is within tolerances prior to executing a robotic movement. The robotic actuation, however, will not occur until all of the validation conditions have been satisfied, which prevents an unsafe motion from being made by the robotic device prior to it being executed. The method will also include decomposing validated movements into micro-trajectories, generating a valid movement permission token for each of the micro-trajectories and restricting the robotic device's degrees of freedom based on the surgical context. Execution states will be reviewed and recorded continuously. As described, the invention has a specific technical effect because it allows for preventative measures against tissue damage, provides greater surgical precision and more reliable operations than current systems. It also provides a solution that can be patented with regard to the hardware aspects of the device and to the application of robotics in surgery."
