According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure proposes a blockchain-based property document management system and a method for secure, transparent, and paperless handling of property records through a decentralized and permissioned blockchain framework. The system comprises: a permissioned blockchain configured to maintain immutable references, ownership history, and access logs for each registered property; a property registration module configured to digitize property documents and permanently record them on the permissioned blockchain upon completion of a fully digital registration process; a smart contract-based governance mechanism configured to enforce mandatory registrar approval for any property sale or modification, thereby preventing unauthorized alterations and ensuring legal compliance; a role-based access control module configured to restrict access to property records to authorized stakeholders comprising the property owner, registrar, seller, municipal authorities, and other approved entities; and an ownership transfer module configured to record each ownership transfer as a new blockchain transaction, thereby preserving the complete ownership lineage of each property. The proposed system eliminates paper documentation, enforces registrar-controlled authorization, and ensures tamper-proof record management, thereby significantly reducing fraud, enhancing transparency, and streamlining property registration and transfer processes through the effective use of blockchain technology."
