MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311085828 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 15, 2023, for 'system and method for predicting damage of a virtual vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Yiqing Yan; Mahesh Bolisetty; Chethan Kumar Devaramane Ramaswamy; and Abhiram Ravindran.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system 102 and a method 700 for predicting damage of a virtual vehicle. The method 700 includes receiving 702 one or more terrain parameters of one or more physical terrain heaps and one or more vehicle parameters and transforming 704 the one or more terrain parameters into a Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) model. Further, the method 700 includes determining 706 one or more SPH particles based on the transformation and generating 708 one or more digital terrain heaps in a digital environment using the one or more SPH particles. Further, the method 700 includes generating 710 the virtual vehicle based on the one or more vehicle parameters and performing 712 a collision between the one or more digital terrain heaps and the virtual vehicle for predicting 714, via an Artificial Intelligence (AI) model, the damage of the virtual vehicle based on the collision."
