MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641025097 A) filed by Chilakapati Anil Kumar, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, on March 3, for 'system and method for predicting commuter navigation speed using private coverage area in railway station entrance lobbies.'

Inventor(s) include Chilakapati Anil Kumar; and Prof. Dr Ramesh Srikonda.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a computer-implemented method for predicting commuter navigation speed within railway station entrance lobbies based on Private Coverage Area analysis. Indoor movement data is recorded to compute the spatial coverage occupied by individual commuters and corresponding navigated speed. The relationship between Private Coverage Area and navigational certainty is analyzed, revealing that larger spatial coverage is associated with reduced navigation speed. The method enables micro-scale behavioral prediction of indoor pedestrian movement and supports design and operational optimization of railway station entrance lobbies."
