MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087734 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'system and method for plotting a map for a track by determining zoom level of display.'
Inventor(s) include Souvick Mazumder; Suhani Kshatriya; and Arunendra Dubey.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure pertains to a system and a method for plotting a map for a track by determining zoom level of display, implemented in a vehicle. It involves: obtaining map data associated with track 302, and computing diagonal length 306 of a bounding box 304 being plotted over a map pertaining to the obtained map data, where the bounding box encompasses the track 302. Further, it involves creating paddings for the one or more zoom levels, wherein length of the created paddings varies for each of the zoom levels. It compares the computed diagonal length 306 with pre-defined tile lengths and corresponding padding length, where each of the tile lengths pertains to one of the pre-defined zoom levels; and correspondingly optimum zoom level is determined, and correspondingly plots the map pertaining to the selected track on the basis of the determined zoom level."
