MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641009451 A) filed by Mr. Harishankar K. P; Mr. Karthikeyan R; Mr. Niranjan Surya T; and Mr. Prabu D, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 29, for 'system and method for pir-and-gas-sensor home security with real-time alerts.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. Harishankar K. P; Mr. Karthikeyan R; Mr. Niranjan Surya T; and Mr. Prabu D.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention a home security and safety system combines passive infrared (PIR) motion sensing with combustible gas/smoke sensing to provide dual protection against intrusion and fire hazards. A controller comprising a microcontroller continuously samples a PIR sensor and an MQ-series gas sensor, applies thresholding and optional confirmation logic, and triggers local and remote alerts. Upon detecting human motion, the controller activates an audible alarm and indicator and transmits an intrusion notification via a communication module, optionally triggering a camera module for image capture or recording. Upon detecting hazardous gas/smoke above a calibrated threshold, the controller activates the alarm, transmits a hazard notification, and optionally drives a ventilation actuator, including an exhaust fan relay and/or a window-opening motor/servo. The architecture is modular, low power, and scalable for deployment in homes and small commercial spaces, providing easy installation, reduced false triggers, and real-time response for improved occupant safety and property protection."
