MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521128602 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Dec. 18, 2025, for 'system and method for personalized book recommendation using mood-based filtering and machine learning.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Bhupesh Kumar Dewangan; Vidhi Bodhare; Shubh Kamle; and Prachi Fartade.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A computer-implemented system for personalized book recommendation based on user mood and reading preferences is disclosed. The system comprises a processor coupled to a memory storing executable instructions implementing processing modules. The system includes a user data capturing module configured to collect mood indicators, reading preferences, and user interaction data from digital library interfaces. A data processing module preprocesses the user input data through natural language processing operations and data normalization to extract feature vectors representing emotional states and reading interests. A machine learning recommendation engine analyzes the feature vectors using hybrid filtering combining collaborative filtering and content-based filtering algorithms to generate user preference profiles. A similarity calculation module computes cosine similarity scores between user preference profiles and book metadata using optimized vector operations. The system achieves reduced recommendation generation latency while maintaining recommendation accuracy through efficient computational architectures and optimized similarity computation algorithms."
