MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441016882 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on March 8, 2024, for 'system and method for performing salient object segmentation.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Embodiment of the present disclosure discloses here a saliency segmentation method for a preview image frame (321). Further, the method includes generating a plurality of saliency boxes, having one or more salient subjects, for each of a plurality of subjects in the preview image frame (321). Further, the method includes selecting, from the plurality of saliency boxes, a set of saliency boxes having a first set of salient subjects based on a ranking of each of the plurality of saliency boxes and extracting at least one or more salient images along with boundary information corresponding to each of the first set of salient subjects."
