MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521095180 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Oct. 3, 2025, for 'system and method for navigating mobile furniture units.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system (108) for navigating one or more mobile furniture units (102) is disclosed. The system comprises mobility modules (210) removably coupled to corresponding mobile furniture unit (102A) and comprising at least two motorized wheels (414) and a servo motor (416) configured to navigate the corresponding mobile furniture unit (102A). The system (108) comprises communicator modules (212) configured to transmit wireless signals to at least two receivers (106). The system (108) comprises at least one processor (202) configured to receive signal strength information from the at least two receivers (106). The at least one processor (202) is configured to determine location of each mobile furniture unit (102) using a trilateration technique and determine navigation paths using a path planning technique. The at least two motorized wheels (414) and the servo motor (416) are controlled based on corresponding navigation paths. The system (108) enables autonomous furniture navigation."
