MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517099327 A) filed by Safegrid Oy, Espoo, Finland, on Oct. 14, for 'system and method for managing electric grid.'
Inventor(s) include Mantysalo, Tapio; and Farughian, Amir.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a system (200A-200D) and a method (300) for managing an electric grid (100) with a substation (102) having a transformer (104) with a transformer neutral (106) thereof grounded via a grounding impedance (108). The system includes a current sensing unit (202) that measures ground or neutral current (Io) at the transformer neutral and traveling wave fault recording units (204) installed on feeder lines (112) to detect and record arrival times of traveling waves generated by a fault event. A processing arrangement (206) communicates with the current sensing unit and the traveling wave fault recording units, receiving information about ground or neutral current (Io) and traveling wave arrival times. The processing arrangement detects earth faults in feeder lines, or the substation based on the received information and computes the fault location in response to detecting an earth fault, using the information about the arrival time of traveling waves."
The patent application was internationally filed on Apr. 29, 2024, under International application No.PCT/FI2024/050201.
