MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311085593 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 14, 2023, for 'system and method for maintaining integrity of longitudinal localization.'
Inventor(s) include Bharath Bhat.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system (102) and a method (300) for maintaining integrity of longitudinal localization in an autonomous vehicle. The method (300) includes receiving and updating (302) a set of map data and a set of sensor data associated with one or more road sections, generating (304) a probability position hypothesis by matching the updated set of map data with the updated set of sensor data, and in case, one or more landmarks are not determined, generating (306) a virtual landmark hypothesis for a given road section based on a computed subsequent longitudinal position of the autonomous vehicle, aggregating (308) the virtual landmark hypothesis for said each of the one or more road sections with respect to the one or more landmarks that are not determined, and computing (310) a final longitudinal position of the autonomous vehicle based on the aggregated virtual landmark hypothesis."
