MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073499 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Sept. 28, 2024, for 'system and method for lane estimation using historical fleet data.'
Inventor(s) include Bharath Bhat; and Trishna Patil.
The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system (102) and a method (500) for lane estimation with improved accuracy using historical fleet data (220). The system (102) receives real-time sensing data from a fleet of vehicles (104) in each lane of a road segment (106), and perform a trend analysis of the real-time sensing data received over a predefined number of intervals. Further, the system (102) updates historical fleet data (220) including a road segment-specific probability distribution associated with each unique lane in the road segment (106) associated with the fleet of vehicles (104) based on the real-time sensing data and/or the trend analysis. The system (102) then transmits the historical fleet data (220) to a controller (406) of the fleet of vehicles (104), where the historical fleet data (220) is used by the controller (406) for lane estimations using state-estimation filtering based on the historical fleet data (220)."
