The system (102) further includes an enclosed imaging chamber (120) to provide controlled visible-spectrum and near-infrared illumination during rotation of the fruit, and a dual-mode imaging inspection unit (122) disposed within the enclosed imaging chamber (120). The system (102) further includes a cloud-based AI classification engine (128) in data communication with the dual-mode imaging inspection unit (122), and a real-time sorting mechanism (132) to automatically direct the classified fruit into a healthy bin or a defect-specific reject bin."
