MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202341087159 A) filed by Mastercard International Incorporated, Purchase, U.S.A., on Dec. 20, 2023, for 'system and method for facilitating porting of payment modes.'
Inventor(s) include Naveen Kumar Gupta; Ajay Sinha; and Lalit Manchanda.
The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method for facilitating porting between payment networks at the terminal device (108) is provided. A selection indicative of porting of payment mode (106) from a first payment network to a second payment network is received by a server (110) from a user (102) by way of the terminal device (108). The server (110) generates a removal request indicative of removal of a first application associated with the first payment network from the payment mode (106) upon successful mutual authentication between the server (110) and the payment mode (106) upon receipt of the selection. The server (110) selects the second application associated with the second payment network upon removal of the first application. The server (110) installs the second application on the payment mode (106) upon selecting the second application."
