MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087731 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'system and method for determining condition of vehicular components.'

Inventor(s) include Pradeep Nagaraj; and Pavani Chintakrindi.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure discloses a system and method for determining condition of distinct vehicular components at a workshop. It involves: transmitting ultrasonic signals towards a target component (150) and receiving ultrasonic signals being reflected by the target component (150) mounted at a holding device (110); prompting selection of a mode among correlated inspection mode and component-specific inspection mode. In the correlated inspection mode, deriving a correlation between the transmitted ultrasonic signals and the reflected ultrasonic signals, and correspondingly determining the condition of the target component (150). In the component-specific inspection mode, matching velocity of the reflected ultrasonic signals with a dataset comprising reference velocities of the ultrasonic signals associated with distinct components and corresponding materials, and correspondingly determining the condition of the target component (150). A vehicle equipped with the ultrasonic transceivers (112) acts as a platform for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic signals towards and from the target component (150)."
