MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411072593 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Sept. 25, 2024, for 'system and method for detecting traffic signs.'
Inventor(s) include Patnaikuni Srikhar; and Sakshi Dwivedi.
The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system (102) and a method (300) for detecting traffic signs. The system (102) receives data from a sensor (104) to represent a three-dimensional (3D) environment of a vehicle (106). The system (102) defines a region of interest (ROI) from the data to detect one or more objects. The system (102) identifies, via a clustering technique, one or more clustered objects from the ROI. The system (102) filters the one or more clustered objects according to one or more reflectivity values corresponding to a traffic sign. The system (102) determines one or more vectors associated with the filtered one or more clustered objects based on a predefined condition and determine one or more data points associated with the traffic sign based on the one or more vectors."
