MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087268 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 20, 2023, for 'system and method for detecting reverse digitized barriers in a map horizon.'
Inventor(s) include Raghavendra Reddy Kallutla; Battagiri Mallikarjuna Reddy; and Vijay Jayaramegowda.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system (106) and a method (700) for detecting reverse digitized barriers in a map horizon. The method (700) includes receiving (702) inputs associated with an environment of a vehicle, where the input includes a road segment. The method (700) includes generating (704) barrier profiles, generating (708) a lane model vector associated with the road segment, generating (710) a direction vector based on the lane model vector, and determining (712) if the direction vector is in a reverse direction to a driving direction. Based on a positive determination, the method (700) includes determining one or more reverse barrier profiles based on reversing a start offset and an end offset for the corresponding one or more barrier profiles. The method (700) includes generating visual representations of the road segment based on the one or more reverse barrier profiles."
