MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133213 A) filed by Christ University, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Dec. 29, 2025, for 'system and method for constructing a composite financial performance index for non-banking financial companies.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Shikha Malhotra; and Ms. Prasadam Pydi Hima Bindu.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a structured system and method for constructing a unified financial performance Index representing the collective behavior of major Non-Banking Financial Companies in India. The invention utilizes daily market data of fifteen NBFCs spanning more than fourteen years, processes the data through standardized transformations, and employs a dimensionality-reduction technique, such as Principal Component Analysis, to isolate the dominant shared movement across all selected NBFCs. The extracted component is scaled into an interpretable Index value that reflects sector-wide strength, stability, or stress in a simplified numerical form. The invention eliminates noise inherent in multi-company datasets, enables early detection of NBFC-specific shocks, and provides an independent sector-level indicator for regulators, investors, researchers, and other stakeholders. The Index is scalable, adaptable to additional NBFCs and higher-frequency datasets, and capable of integration into digital dashboards, financial tools, and analytical platforms, thereby filling an essential gap in India's financial monitoring framework."
