MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531102829 A) filed by Dr. Sampath Kumar Padmanabha Jinka, Jorhat, Assam, on Oct. 24, 2025, for 'system and method for conducting sacred fire rituals (homa/havan) with a movable localized exhaust mechanism.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Sampath Kumar Padmanabha Jinka.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A portable localized exhaust apparatus for sacred fire rituals (Homa/Havan) performed indoors is disclosed. The system includes a movable stand with a telescopic height-adjustable mast and width-adjustable cross-member that aligns a compact capture hood above a floor-level ritual tray. An integrated exhaust fan entrains the buoyant smoke plume and conveys it through a heat-tolerant flexible duct to an exterior discharge, thereby reducing near-field exposure for priests and participants. Acoustic comfort is achieved via vibration isolation and an acoustically lined plenum; variable-speed control lets users balance capture and noise. Safety and convenience features include a removable spark/ember screen, quick-release duct couplings, optional particulate and odor filtration, back-draft prevention at the outlet, anti-skid feet, and tool-free setup. Alternative embodiments provide sensor-assisted airflow modulation, dual-hood capture, wall-bracket mounting, and collapsible travel kits. The apparatus enables rapid deployment in small rooms without permanent building modifications while preserving ceremonial visibility and access to the flame."
