MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511122529 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'system and method for charging a battery of an electric vehicle.'
Inventor(s) include Verma, Arun Kumar; Manaswi; Gupta, Hemant; Deo, Akash; and Mathuria, Kirti.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system (102) and a method (500) for charging a battery of an electric vehicle are disclosed. The system (102) comprises a bidirectional converter (204), a sensor array (112), and a microcontroller (104) coupled to a communication module (126). The microcontroller (104) receives a charging request from a remote device (218), analyzes grid data, and concurrently performs real-time diagnostics on the battery (206) to determine a health status. Based on these parameters, a charging profile is determined to generate control signals for the bidirectional converter (204). The converter (204) operates in an extended phase shift (EPS) mode for constant current charging or a dual phase shift (DPS) mode for constant voltage charging. Furthermore, the system (102) transmits real-time diagnostics to a cloud server (216) for predictive maintenance and sends fault alerts to the remote device (218), to enable intelligent and resilient charging operations."
