MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521114112 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Nov. 19, 2025, for 'system and method for autonomous robot motion planning in obstacle environments.'
Inventor(s) include Vivek Ishwar Gurve; Dr. Smita Mahajan; and Dr. Shivali Wagle.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A computer-implemented system for autonomous robot motion planning in environments with obstacles is disclosed. The system comprises a processor coupled to a memory storing executable instructions for a plurality of processing modules. The system includes an environment sensing module configured to receive sensor data from user devices, a map construction module configured to generate occupancy maps representing navigable and occupied workspace regions, and a robot localization module configured to determine robot position coordinates. The processor executes a path planning module to compute collision-free trajectories by implementing rapidly-exploring random tree algorithms or A-star search algorithms, a collision detection module to verify trajectory feasibility through geometric intersection checking, and a path optimization module to refine paths using cubic spline smoothing. The system transmits navigation commands to robot actuators while continuously monitoring environmental changes for dynamic replanning. The system provides technical improvements in computational efficiency by reducing planning latency."
