MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441027456 A) filed by Augurai Private Limited, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, on Oct. 2, 2024, for 'system and method for automated coin counting and segregation.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The various embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for automated coin cleaning, counting, and segregation using camera-based imaging systems and AI, significantly enhancing efficiency and accuracy in processing large volumes of coins. Employing a combination of cleaning and drying mechanism, the system to make the coins free of contaminants for precise imaging. High-speed cameras capture images of both sides of each coin, with AI algorithms analyzing these images for accurate denomination identification. A novel segregation mechanism swiftly sorts coins into designated bins based on their identified denominations. The high-speed operating capability of the system addresses common challenges faced by existing coin processing methods, including the handling of soiled or differently designed coins of the same denomination. Its modular design simplifies maintenance and facilitates upgrades, offering a superior solution for temples, banks, and retail operations dealing with high volumes of coins."
