MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541001093 A) filed by Uravu Labs Private Limited, Bangalore, Karnataka, on March 6, 2025, for 'system and method for atmospheric water generation using mechanical vapour recompression and energy recovery.'
Inventor(s) include Akshat Praveen Jalan; Hari Nikalesh Ravindra; Swapnil Sangeetkumar Shrivastav; Govinda Balaji Balakrishnan; Venkatesh Raja Annamalai; Glinton Greason Fernandez; and Ravi Kumar Govindaraju.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a system (100) and a method for generating atmospheric water using energy recovery in the form of latent heat recovery in an economically viable way. Interface between a cold (moisture) lean absorbent (143) and humid air (071) is provided in an absorber unit (020), a cold (moisture) rich absorbent (131) is heated in the heating unit (060) to produce hot rich absorbent (133). Moisture from the hot rich absorbent (133) liberates in the form of vapour in a vacuum operated desorption chamber (031), while the hot lean absorbent (141) is collected at the sump of the desorption chamber (031). The latent heat from the compressed vapours and the sensible heat from the hot lean absorbent (141) is utilized in the heating unit (060) for heating the cold lean absorbent (131). The compressed vapour (191) is condensed to water (195) which is subcooled and utilized."
