MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311086070 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 16, 2023, for 'system and method for assisting a vehicle at toll station.'

Inventor(s) include Sharat Gujamagadi; Parth Jariwala; Vikram Balisavira; Kishan Kumar; Niteesh Bhat Honnesara Mahabaleswara; and Minali Upreti.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure pertains to a system and a method for assisting a vehicle at toll station. It involves detecting, at 402, toll plaza 320, and correspondingly, at 404, automatic toll assist (ATA) function is initiated. At 406, the RoI is analyzed, and corresponding auto-toll lanes are detected, and then at 408, an auto-toll lane having least traffic density is chosen. At 410, trajectory estimation is carried out, and correspondingly automatic manoeuver of the vehicle 110 is executed. At 414, toll gate barrier 318 on the chosen lane is detected. Further, at 416, key-tokens are transmitted to said toll gate barrier 318, such that, upon receipt of the key-tokens, the toll gate barrier 318 gets open for allowing the vehicle 110 to pass through it. Furthermore, at 418, the vehicle 110 is restarted and driven manually/ automatically until the next toll plaza 318, where the same process again gets repeated."
