MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521128939 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Dec. 18, 2025, for 'system and method for artificial intelligence-based mental health support using natural language processing and crisis detection.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Sandeep Kumar; Gauri Savale; Purva Thakare; and Tanumay Chatterjee.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A computer-implemented system for providing artificial intelligence-based mental health support through conversational interaction is disclosed. The system comprises a processor and memory storing executable modules. A user input module receives interaction data from a user device via a network. A natural language processing module applies tokenization, lemmatization, and sentiment analysis to identify emotional states including depression, anxiety, and stress indicators. An intent recognition module classifies emotional states using machine learning models to determine response categories. A crisis detection module identifies distress signals by matching keywords against a crisis database. A response generation module produces therapeutic responses using hybrid rule-based templates and AI-generated text incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. A data management module securely stores anonymized conversation logs using encryption. The system delivers sub-500 millisecond response times through parallel processing and ensures high availability via distributed computing infrastructure, enabling real-time, accessible mental health support."
