MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621024406 A) filed by Mohd Zubair Mohd Ismail Shaikh; Alka Kewalchand Pardeshi; Ravish Hamid Khan; Khan Ather Ahmed Anwar Ahmed; Isha Kataria; Kapse Santosh Babanrao; and Syed Mohsin, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, on March 1, for 'system and method for artificial intelligence-based crack identification and structural health monitoring.'

Inventor(s) include Mohd Zubair Mohd Ismail Shaikh; Alka Kewalchand Pardeshi; Ravish Hamid Khan; Khan Ather Ahmed Anwar Ahmed; Isha Kataria; Kapse Santosh Babanrao; and Syed Mohsin.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a system and method for artificial intelligence-based crack identification and structural health monitoring of infrastructure assets. The system comprises an image acquisition module, a preprocessing unit, a deep learning-based crack detection engine, a feature extraction module, structural sensors, a data fusion module, and a predictive analytics engine. Captured structural images are processed to detect and quantify crack parameters including length, width, and orientation, while sensor data such as strain, vibration, temperature, and displacement are simultaneously collected. The integrated data is analyzed to generate a structural health index and to predict crack propagation and potential failure risks using machine learning models. The invention enables automated, real-time monitoring, early warning alerts, and optimized maintenance planning, thereby improving infrastructure safety, reliability, and lifecycle management efficiency."
