MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541134110 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education And Research, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'system and method for ai-based diagnostic support in radiology and imaging.'

Inventor(s) include Sasidharam S; Parameshwar Keerthi B. H; Poongodi S; and Asha Rani G.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "System and Method for AI-Based Diagnostic Support in Radiology and Imaging The present disclosure relates to a system and method for artificial intelligence (AI) based diagnostic support in radiology and medical imaging that considers constraints; causes of outcomes; and input from a qualified radiologist. The AI based diagnostic support, receives medical imaging data and associated acquisition metadata from the imaging modalities. An initial protocol compliance check is completed, followed by the normalization of imaging metadata. A second check completes an anatomical structural validity check, which applies a spatial and morphologic feasibility check to each of the acquired imaging features. A third check validates the cause-effect relationship between the validated imaging biomarker, which had been validated during the prior two checks and the applicable diagnostic hypotheses of the patient. There is also a means to technically restrict diagnostically unsafe or causal correlations outputs from providing the diagnostic results to the Radiologist. The AI based diagnostic support has a method of providing a confidence state of the validated radiologist governed diagnostic confidence rather than an autonomous disposal of a validated diagnostic result. The validated radiologist governed diagnostic confidence maintains the clinical oversight of the AI based diagnostic support, providing an adaptive reinforcement process for the retention of the knowledge of the radiologist through a secure, or authenticated feedback. The AI based diagnostic support can produce verifiable traces that allow the Radiologist to accomplish audit and regulatory functions associated with their diagnostic testing. This invention discloses a solution for providing technically governed, explainable and regulatory compliant means for assisting radiologists in making accurate and timely diagnoses, while increasing the reliability, safety and clinical usability of AI based diagnostic support compared to existing systems used in the radiological."
