MUMBAI, India, June 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311083221 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 6, 2023, for 'system and method for adjusting drivable distance and fade-off length for autonomous driving.'
Inventor(s) include Bharath Bhat.
The application for the patent was published on June 13, under issue no. 24/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides system (102) and method (300) for adjusting drivable distance and fade-off length in an autonomous vehicle in dynamic zones. The method (300) includes obtaining (302) static map data and dynamic map data of a lane, and lane attributes, generating (304) static reference lines using the static map data, and dynamic reference lines using the dynamic map data and the lane attributes, generating (306) static and dynamic road sections using the respective static and dynamic reference lines, computing (308) transformation matrix by overlaying the static and dynamic road sections, extracting (310) one or more parameter values from the transformation matrix, determining (312) whether the one or more parameter values are less than a pre-defined threshold value, computing (314) the drivable distance for the autonomous vehicle in the dynamic zones, and transmitting (316) an adjustable fade-off length based on the computed drivable distance in the dynamic zones."
