MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025345 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, New Delhi, on March 28, 2024, for 'system and method for a combined ultrasonic electromyography sensor.'
Inventor(s) include Mukherjee, Biswarup; Sharma, Kavita; and Kamatham, Anne Tryphosa.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A sensing system (100) for detecting neuromuscular activity is disclosed. The sensing system includes a sensing device. The sensing device (102) includes an ultrasound transducer (104) to measure sonomyography (SMG) signals for muscle deformation. A matching layer (106) includes a copper layer acting as an electromyography (EMG) electrode. An ultrasound pulser-receiver unit (108) is configured to generate pulse signals based on the SMG signals measured by the ultrasound transducer. An EMG preamplifier (110) is connected to the top copper layer of the matching layer, the EMG preamplifier is configured to amplify the electrical signals captured by the top copper layer. A signal processing unit (112) is connected with the ultrasound pulser-receiver unit to process and generate one or more first outputs corresponding to the measured SMG signals. An EMG signal processing unit (114) is configured to generate second outputs corresponding to the captured electrical signals."
