MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517093297 A) filed by Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, U.S.A., on Sept. 29, for 'system, apparatus, computer program product, and method for determining track pitch distance measurement.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Systems, apparatuses, computer program products, and methods can determine a distance between a pair of markers (300) removably coupled to a pair of non-adjacent joints (117) on a track assembly (116) of a track-type machine (110) using imaging captured by a camera (212) of a mobile electronic device (114). The determined distance between a pair of markers (300) can be representative of a track pitch extension, which can be used to determine wear of the track assembly (116)."
