MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122945 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'synthetic physiological signal generation system for sleep apnea detection using timegan and wavegan.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Aju D; and Mr. Jayanth Vikash S.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a synthetic physiological signal generation system for sleep apnea detection. The system includes a data preprocessing module configured to extract SpO2 time-series segments and tracheal audio clips from polysomnography recordings, wherein SpO2 segments are sampled at 100 Hz and audio clips are resampled to 16 kHz. The system includes a TimeGAN generative adversarial network configured to generate synthetic SpO2 time-series data preserving temporal dependencies of oxygen saturation patterns associated with sleep apnea events. The system includes a WaveGAN generative adversarial network configured to generate synthetic tracheal audio waveforms preserving acoustic characteristics of respiratory sounds during apnea episodes. The system includes computing infrastructure configured to train the networks using GPU acceleration. The system includes an output module configured to generate synthetic physiological signals in numpy array format for SpO2 data and WAV format for audio data."
