MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511054408 A) filed by Panjab University; and Kaur, Ravneet, Chandigarh, India, on June 5, for 'synthetic peptide, and a method of preparing the same thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses synthetic antifungal peptide EKA-15 KS-PU with broad-spectrum antifungal activity against both plant and human fungal pathogens. The peptide is chemically synthesized and recombinantly expressed in E. coli systems, followed by purification through Ni-NTA affinity chromatography. The peptide exhibits potent antifungal activity with low cytotoxicity, enhanced stability, and prolonged shelf-life. The composition is formulated into topical gels, injectable solutions, and foliar sprays for pharmaceutical and agricultural applications. The invention represents a sustainable alternative to conventional antifungal agents, offering high specificity, biodegradability, and environmental safety."
