MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611024228 A) filed by Indian Council Of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, on Feb. 28, for 'synbiotic sweet potato ice cream enriched with natural pigments and preparation method.'

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a synbiotic frozen food composition and a method for preparation thereof. The composition comprises a dairy-based matrix, a plant-derived phytonutrient component comprising sweet potato puree, and a synbiotic powder comprising probiotic microorganisms and prebiotic components. The sweet potato puree comprises anthocyanin-rich and/or beta-carotene-rich sweet potato, thereby enhancing nutritional and antioxidant properties of the composition. The synbiotic powder comprises probiotic microorganisms and prebiotic components to support probiotic viability and functional stability during frozen storage. The composition retains viable probiotic microorganisms in an amount of at least 4 108 CFU/ml after storage under frozen conditions for at least three months. The method comprises preparation of a dairy base, pasteurization, addition of sweet potato puree and synbiotic powder, homogenization, aging, and freezing to obtain the synbiotic frozen food composition. The composition provides improved nutritional value, antioxidant activity, and probiotic stability."
