MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521131780 A) filed by National Institute Of Design, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Dec. 25, 2025, for 'swiva: bearing-assisted swing bench.'

Inventor(s) include Umang Bhardwaj.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Bearing-Assisted Swing Bench provides a compact, safe, and self-centering oscillatory seating system, comprises a pair of detachable leg assemblies formed by Laser-Cut MS Outer and Inner Sheets (1, 2) interconnected through Horizontal Pipes (7), Vertical Pipes (8), and an Oval Pipe (9) at the base. A Bearing Shaft (12) journalled within Ball Bearings (13) supports a seating platform composed of stacked Laser-Cut Sheets (3-6), Threaded Pipes (10), and Seating Pipes (11) clamped using fastening hardware (14-21). Lateral movement causes the bearings (13) to roll along curved tracks (4, 5), producing a smooth, pendulum-like oscillation. The geometry ensures automatic self-centering, while all moving parts remain fully enclosed, offering safe, modular, and ergonomic seating without overhead suspension."
