MUMBAI, India, Jan. 3 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511103602 A) filed by Erudition Therapeutics Pvt. Ltd., Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Oct. 28, 2025, for 'sustained-release matrix tablet of troxerutin.'
Inventor(s) include Ms. Priyanka Dubey; Dr. Sharda Sambhakar; Ms. Vartika Paliwal; Prof. Sarvesh Paliwal; and Prof. Swapnil Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a sustained-release matrix tablet of troxerutin and a process for its preparation. The formulation was developed using a direct compression method, employing Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose and Ethyl Cellulose as rate-controlling polymers in a 4:1 ratio, along with Dicalcium Phosphate as a diluent, talc as a glidant, and magnesium stearate as a lubricant. The composition provides controlled release of troxerutin for up to 24 hours, achieving approximately 100% drug release in phosphate buffer (pH 6.8) following Fickian diffusion kinetics. The optimized formulation containing 40 mg troxerutin per 450 mg tablet exhibited excellent physical properties and stability under accelerated conditions (40 C 2 C / 75% RH for 6 months). The developed sustained-release tablets reduce the dosing frequency of troxerutin from two to three times daily to once daily, thereby improving patient compliance and therapeutic efficacy."
