MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026156 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 29, 2024, for 'surface measuring assistive device.'
Inventor(s) include Varun Bansal; Mohd. Ahamad; Shoyab Hussain; and Evgeniya Zharikova.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A surface measuring assistive device, comprising a spherical body 1 configured with a pair of plates 2 accessed by a user to insert one end of a measuring tape within the cavity 3, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 determines accommodation of the tape, a motorized clamp 5 grips the tape, a tilt sensor monitors tilt angle of the body 1, a telescopic rod 6 configured with each of the plate regulate tilt angle of the body 1, a microphone 7 receives voice command of the user, a motorized wheel 8 configured with each of the rod 6 to provide translation to the body 1, plurality of suction units 9 installed over the wheels 8 to affix the body 1 with the surface, an ultrasonic sensor determine presence of obstacle in path of the body 1, and a speaker 10 produces a voice command."
