MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641018073 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 18, for 'super-resolution imaging system using hermite-gaussian beams and diamond nano-axicon structure.'
Inventor(s) include Ummal Momeen M; and Apoorva D.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A nano-axicon structure for super-resolution imaging includes a cylindrical base portion and a conical portion disposed on the cylindrical base portion. The nano-axicon structure is formed from a high refractive index material having a refractive index greater than 2.0. The nano-axicon structure is configured to receive a Hermite-Gaussian beam and generate a sub-diffraction focal spot at a plane of interest proximate to an apex of the conical portion. The high refractive index material may be diamond having a refractive index of 2.42. The cylindrical base portion has a radius of 600 nm and a height of 200 nm, and the conical portion has a base radius of 600 nm and a height of 100 nm. The Hermite-Gaussian beam may be a higher-order Hermite-Gaussian beam designated as HG(1,1) mode, and the sub-diffraction focal spot has a full width at half maximum of 31 nm."
