MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026144 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'sugarcane node growth assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Satwinder Singh; Dr. Amresh Kumar; Dr. Shweta Lamba; Prabhdeep Singh; Simranjot Singh; Devesh; Akash Chaudhary; and Sankrt Chabra.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 24, under issue no. 43/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A sugarcane node growth assistive device, comprising a cuboidal housing 1 developed to be positioned on a fixed surface, housing 1 is segregated into multiple compartments 2 in view of accommodating node portions of sugarcane stalks, vessel 3 dedicated towards storage of soil, primary for transferring the stored soil at floor surface inside the housing 1 via gravity, artificial intelligence enabled image capturing module 5 for capturing multiple images of the dispensed soil in view of determining large sized stones present along with the soil, robotic arm 6 for collecting back the stones from the soil and stores the collected stones within a platform 7 inside the housing 1, chamber 8 for storing sugarcanes nodes, secondary conduit 9 connected with a reservoir 10 stored with water for dispensing the water in the soil and telescopically operated rod 11 extends and retracts through said soil across the compartments 2."
